Havana province has agricultural scientific and educational centers of great importance to the country such as the Institute of Animal Science. The development of agricultural feed productions, influenced by the effects of climatic change, desertification and drought, hydro-meteorological phenomena, and their economic, political, social, and environmental sustainability, are challenges to science and the agricultural sector.
Within a deep economic crisis and globalization, animal production systems and their feeding basis, among other factors, are threatened: feeding independence and security are turned into strategies of first order, to guarantee the life of those living in this planet and specially, in the tropical region. In this context, the Third International Congress of Tropical Animal Production and the strengths to have an event of great magnitude are put under tension to perform an event of great magnitude, with quite diverse matters and the same objective: tropical animal production and industry, but with a distinctive trait, the actors. It is our desire that producers and farmers gather in work sessions, transmit their experiences and wisdom, and that the interchanges farmer-farmer, between farmers and technicians, and between the group of leading and reference farmers occur in the conference rooms. The primary sector is the fundamental link between the production of feeds and the investigator-producer pair, and it is the one deciding the results. Thus, specialists, researchers and professors of high professional level from several latitudes are also invited.
The Third Congress has as aim “to motivate the interchange of experiences and results attained by producers, researchers, professors, technicians and those interested in the systems of tropical animal production, their technical, economic, ecological and social sustainability, and the strategies for the improvement, preservation, and utilization of the natural resources” and includes: the Second Symposium of Ruminant Production, the Second Symposium of Production of Monogastric Animals, The First International Symposium of the Federation of Sheep and Goat Producers of Latin America (FOCAL), the Fifth Latin American Forum of Pastures and Forages, the Fifth Regional Meeting of Extension, Transference and Adoption of Technologies and Rural Development, The Workshop of Cooperatives, Challenges and Development, the Second Workshop of Informatics and Biostatistics Applied to Agricultural Sciences, the Fourth Iberoamerican Seminar (RESALAN) on the utilization of agroindustrial byproducts and residues in animal feeding: economic and environmental sustainability and the First International Workshop of Autochthonous and Creole Genetic Resources.
